The building complex of this multifunctional sports and event centre can host international competitions, sporting events, cultural events, exhibitions, concerts and theatre events, and at the same time provides a spatial framework for the MTK youth development programme. Our aim was to create an ensemble of buildings that can enter into an active relationship with its surroundings and its users. The building enters into an organic relationship, an intense dialogue, with its surroundings and the open spaces. The basis of our architectural concept is to create a complex with a distinctive identity that defines the townscape, fully meets the needs of its functions, and can be built cost-effectively and operated economically. We do this without extra, costly technical solutions, but through thoughtful and thorough design, ensuring high architectural quality and an emblematic appearance with the means of contemporary architecture. The architectural design, both outside and inside, is accompanied by an appearance that evokes the MTK identity. The unique triangle graphic runs through the whole building. It is part of the basic concept: it gives dynamism, refers to sport, and evokes MTK's history, openness and willingness to innovate, in a form that is not didactic but has character. It starts in the external paving, flows into the interior and the foyer, appears in the layout of the lighting both outside and inside, and appears on the facade both in the painted cladding and in the gently opening geometry of the expanded metal facade cladding, as well as in the ceramic-printed patterns on the glazing of the windows. In larger and smaller sizes, proportions and forms, it weaves through the whole building, making it unique and distinctive and helping to create the identity of the MTK Sportpark.
