In a heterogeneous architectural setting, our aim was to create a restrained yet characterful building that can become a symbol of the city and of the sporting and cultural events held here. We shaped the building at the scale of the city, with bold gestures, composing it from simple geometric cubes and sculpting the mass more by taking away than by adding. The municipal sports hall hosts sporting events, international matches, training sessions, cultural and school events, as well as mass events, concerts, exhibitions and fairs. In addition to the complete separation of the arena from public circulation, events that require it can also reach the arena directly from the foyer through openings in the reinforced concrete dividing wall.
